Mr Bakolas, Project Director and President of European Profiles, visited the project from 26 to 30 August 2019.
On Tuesday, 27 August, he met with the Ministry of Education: Ms Aknabat Atabaeva, Deputy Minister; Mr Chemra Chairov, Head of the International Department; Mr Ezizmuhamed Mamedov, Project Coordinator; the representative of MFA, international organisation department; Sapar Taganov, Director of “Tasin Chozgut” company, and Gulshirin Annadurdiyeva .
Mr Bakolas reported on the results of his meetings with the EU Delegation in Nursultan, Kazakhstan, following the meeting of Sylvia Pietropaoli with MoE before the Steering Committee on 21 May. He mentioned that the EU is satisfied with the results of the project and looks forward to continuing the current implementation course, focusing on expanding the existing portfolio of activities following the Terms of Reference.
The Turkmen side makes comments and suggestions aimed at increasing the efficiency of the project and supporting it to achieve optimal results. Discussions focused on processes and procedures for EU-funded projects, communication policy, recruitment practices of local and international experts and other relevant issues.
Mr Bakolas assured that the comments and wishes expressed would be taken seriously into consideration, while He stressed the importance of the Steering Committee as an effective mechanism for dialogue and as a platform for developing a shared understanding from all stakeholders.
Mr Bakolas informed about the activities for the reminding 13 months of project implementation and presented the role of Professor Georgios Pavlidis. Mr Pavlidis was recently appointed as Senior Expert, that will coordinate all project activities related to Information Technologies but also will support Team Leader in overall project management. He is a member of the Governing Council for European Profiles and supports ongoing digitalisation efforts in education.
