Should Turkmenistan enter WorldSkills, the world championship of vocational skills?
ASHGABAT, TURKMENISTAN. This is the question asked during a workshop on 22 and 23 January 2020 at the Construction College Ashgabat. One hundred forty principals, administrative staff and teachers from the country’s 42 TVET participate in the event, implemented by the project.

The first of two groups of ten participants started the six-days seminar “Introduction to Web Development”. Teachers from Ashgabat and regional pilot schools learn about the hosting and support of websites, familiarize with HTML, CSS, and PHP programming, and create sample websites using the functionality of WordPress.

The EU project “Support to the Education sector in Turkmenistan” strengthens state capacity to better align with global trends and the accelerating pace of change. A portfolio of more than 30 activities includes the pilot sector tourism, with an update of teaching materials for tour guides.

Ashgabat, Turkmenistan, October 2018. The first part of a Pearson-licensed further training course for English teachers took place from 15 – 19 October 2018. The Senior Non Key Experts, Mr.Philip Warwick and Ms. Marina Bogucka delivered training to 44 teachers who had been chosen from all over the country to take part during a rigorous selection process undertaken over the previous months.

From 8 to 12 October 2018, Ms Marina Burd, Managing Director, and Mr Alexander Ott, school coordinator, from the bilingual network of schools and kindergarten “MITRA” visited Turkmenistan. Created by migrants from the former Soviet Union, MITRA is a market leader for bilingual education for the Russian diaspora, around ten million people worldwide. It gained recognition through innovative solutions that address educational needs in Germany and other countries.
